REPORT OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING AT 7.30pm ON WEDNESDAY 18thJULY 2018 IN THE COMMUNTIY CENTRE.
PRESENT Cllr. A Walmsley, Chairman presiding.
Cllrs. M Cockett, C Huggens & A Ratcliffe.
Cllrs. J Britt & N Osborne were also present. M McFarlane (Clerk & RFO) 4 members of the public.
A pre-application proposal for a community development and recreation opportunity which includes fifteen dwellings, consisting of six affordable housing and nine self-build units based on a serviced plot basis, at Lenham Sandpit, Sandway Road, was presented to Cllrs. It was suggested the plans be displayed at the NHP consultation event in September. Lenham Meadows Trust may be interested in managing the open space on site, providing there is a contribution from the developers to maintain the wildlife in the early years. The NHP master planning may include new roads and therefore the site owners should be mindful not to preclude future transport improvements. The planning committee agreed in principal with the plans for the site, subject to the full planning application process. Local people will be kept informed of progress and invited to consult fully on all aspects of the proposals.
Cllr. Britt gave an update on the Highways England consultation and surveys of local land adjacent to the M20 corridor through Lenham Heath, Sandway, Platts Heath and Boughton Malherbe. He will represent LPC at two meetings to discuss possible lorry parks with additional customs areas, which at present is speculative work with initial investigations. Following the information gathering exercise Cllr. Britt will report back to the council and ensure the LPC formal response is sent before the deadline of July 22nd.
The Chairman thanked the members of the public and Cllr. Britt for attending. Both parties left the meeting and the Chairman opened the planning meeting at 8.45pm
