The Lenham Parish Council is pleased to announce the upgrading and installation of new play equipment at the Cherry Close and Ham Lane play areas.
Following receipt of S106 monies from developments at Westwood Grange, Ham Lane (£29,925) and Wealden Square, Old Ashford Road (£17,593) the money will be used to improve play equipment, and to enhance, maintain and renew amenity areas.
The project is being organised in three phases; the first phase, which will be funded by the LPC revenue budget, will include new cradle and flat swing seats and chains, with shackle, bolt and pin replacements at both sites. The teacup twister will be replaced at Ham Lane, and the Cherry Close equipment will be repainted, and new black wet-pour repair kits used. The benches will be sanded and varnished.
Phase two will see the installation of a 20m steel cableway with a ramp at Ham Lane.
Phase three will complete the new equipment for Ham Lane with the installation of a swing-along and a pendulum swing with basket seat; the basket seat is designed to accommodate disabled users. Two new benches will be placed in the Ham Lane play area.
The project is being undertaken by Wicksteed Play Grounds Ltd. They are a well-respected supplier and installer of top quality play equipment.
We thank the Harrietsham and Lenham Cubs & Scouts for their ideas and suggestions as to the type of play equipment they would like to have. We have listened to your helpful advice and ordered the equipment accordingly.
The works programme will be undertaken in September and access to the Ham Lane site will be through the cricket field. We thank the Cricket Club and the landowner for permitting use of the field, as it offers the safest route for the work to be completed. A Portakabin will be on site during the installation.
For health and safety reasons the play area will be closed while the work is in progress. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but feel sure the wait will be worthwhile.
If you have any queries or concerns about the project please contact the Parish Clerk,
Margo McFarlane, on 01622 859682 (Mon to Fri 9am to 1pm), or email@example.com
