This is an attempt at a one page explanation:-
1)This 398 page Plan document, and ANY public or LPC comments, for or against, will be examined by a government inspector who will approve or disapprove it.
2)The total housing number of 18560 is in dispute, by KCC and others and is the highest number of any Kent Borough.
3) Lenham has been singled out as suitable for the highest growth of all Kent villages, 1500 more by 2031, because of its position, A20, railway, schools and space for easy building.
4) Farmland already offered for development to the East and West of Lenham would allow these numbers to be met.
5)The net result would be the non-sustainable ‘trebling’ of the population of Lenham, people and cars, in 15 years.
6)Independent Land sensitivity assessments (Jacobs) and our proximity to North Downs AONB have been ignored.
7)Proposed immediate development of ‘Tanyards Farm’ would completely transform the Eastern aspect of the village and ‘Glebe Gardens’ would destroy the natural habitat and source of the river Stour as well as building on a bog.
8)The views of Lenham people and LPC have not been considered nor have the excellent alternative proposals incorporated in Lenham Neighbourhood Plan.
9) Lenham Parish housing needs, low cost for local people, has not been realistically addressed, short or long term.
10) The closing date for comments is Friday 18th March and can be submitted on line or by mail (firstname.lastname@example.org)
