REPORT OF THE FINANCE & GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE MEETING HELD IN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE

New litter bins have been installed at William Pitt Field and Bull Heath, Lenham Heath.
The overgrown hedge at the Faversham Road junction will be cut back as a health and safety precaution, Cllrs. agreed to instruct the handyman to undertake the works as soon as possible.
Concerns were raised about the excessive amount of sand left on the pavements following the recent snow. MBC to be asked to clear the Square and surrounding roads.
The speed indicator device posts have been installed and a memo of understanding circulated.
Provided there are no issues with the memo the SID unit will be commissioned on the 29thMarch on time and within budget.
The WCs will be closed until plumbing issues can be resolved. Cllr. Greenwood will pursue the options for new facilities.
Cllr. Walmsley reported the recent annual inspection of the play areas was satisfactory. A watching brief will be undertaken on the BMX ramps which are showing signs of deterioration.
Three quotes are being sought for the removal of two trees to the rear of the Community Centre.
Cllrs. will recommend to full council renewing the annual CPRE membership of £36 plus a donation of £64 which is the same as last year.
A recommendation will be made for Action with Communities in Rural Kent membership fee of £50.
Cllr. Cockett is attending the ACRK convention Saturday 14thApril cost £30. 9am – 2pm
Cllr. Cockett will recommend the council consider membership of the Open Spaces Society.

The Clerk will seek advice concerning the options which will provide encryption for data protection on the office computer, to comply with the new data legislation.
Cllr. Cockett recommends allotment access is discussed once ideas for use of the top site have been discussed fully.
