REPORT OF THE FINANCE & GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE MEETING HELD IN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE
ON WEDNESDAY 17th JULY 2019 AT 9.45pm

3. ENVIRONMENT WORKS & PROJECT UPDATES
The Clerk reported the repairs to the bus stop roof in the Square have been completed.
Repairs to the roof of the shed at the cemetery have also been undertaken.
The paint for the refurbishment of the Red telephone box in the Square has been ordered and the work scheduled for the week beginning 29th July (weather permitting)
Cllr. A Ratcliffe has sourced replacement tiles for the roof of the football pavilion at William Pitt Field to replace the tiles broken by youths.
Cllr. J Britt continues to progress the Cross improvement works with the Community Pay Back team.
An article for the Focus magazine and the web-site/notice boards has been submitted outlining the plans for the works at the Cross.
Cllr. A Walmsley continues to correspond with residents at Platts Heath concerning the traffic calming issues. The Clerk confirmed Borough Cllr. T Sams has committed £500 towards the cost of implementing highway changes and County Cllr. S Prendergast £1000 towards the estimated costs of £5,000 in total. Final decisions on the remaining finances will be discussed at the August council meeting.
The village handyman will be requested to weed spray the footpaths throughout the Square and High Street and the church yard.
A quote will be sought to clear the area to the south east of the church yard under the Yew trees.
Cllr. N Osborne suggested a policy for the naming of new development roads be discussed further, following a request to consider names for roads on the Countryside development on land west of the village.
