Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement for Lenham Parish Council

This accessibility statement applies to this website at lenhamparish.org.uk

Lenham Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is run by Lenham Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

This website is being continually developed in order to serve the largest possible audience, using the broadest range of systems and to consider any needs that users with disabilities might have.

Feedback and contact information

If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact the parish council office.

If you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, contact the parish council office. We’ll consider your request and get back to you.

The Council’s contact details can be found at contact the council.

Downloadable files

Files have been made available to download in a variety of formats – the most common are Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx) and Microsoft Excel (.xls and .xlsx). Reasonable adjustments have been made to ensure that digital publications available on our website are as accessible as possible. If you need any document in a different format, please contact the parish council office.

Some of the PDFs we publish are statutory requirements. We receive these in a locked or set format that we have limited or no control over but must publish.

Scanned PDF documents in particular do not comply with the Accessibility Regulations 2018. The Accounts and Audit Regulations require a physical 'wet ink' signature on the original Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR). All the AGARs on the website are therefore scanned as an image into a PDF, which means that this content may not be available to screen readers and hence do not fully comply with Accessibility Regulations. The National Audit Office is aware that the two pieces of legislation are not compatible.

How accessible this website is

This site is believed to be compliant, except it is possible some older and scanned PDF documents within this website may not be fully accessible to screen reader software.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
